Were the Nadelas Originally named Canedos? |

The Nadelas originally, as legend would have it, were Canedos (n with the Spanish enye). (The Nadela family name came down the line from the mother side.) There was a Canedo who tilled his lot somewhere in that area again (San Fernando-Naga-Minglanilla). The Spanish friars grabbed landholdings from the poor peasants in the towns. Canedo got mad and threw stones at the convent. The Spanish friars went after this Canedo guy. To escape the wrath of the friars, Canedo changed his name to his maternal side, which was Nadela.) - as related by Delia Balite Fernandez
